Dudley’s Hair and Beauty has been a trusted part of the Bulwell community since 1994. At the helm is Philippa, Company Director and landlord of the stunning three-storey Victorian property the salon calls home.
When Philippa first approached R2G, it was simply for an EPC renewal to keep the lease compliant. Having already accessed funded energy assessments from other providers, she believed the big cost-saving opportunities had been covered.
But as we looked closer, it became clear the previous advice hadn’t told the whole story. By digging deeper into how the property operated, R2G uncovered hidden opportunities that unlocked far more value than Philippa expected.
R2G developed a lighting redesign tailored to the main salon, replacing inefficient fittings and re-sizing the system for actual needs. The salon’s Victorian shopfront was a known weak spot for heat loss. Rather than recommending expensive whole-building interventions, R2G proposed focused thermal upgrades designed to tackle the giant windows directly.

R2G recalculated the system design using the salon’s actual energy use, ensuring the PV installation was right sized for maximum benefit. This created a stronger business case, boosting returns and future-proofing the property against rising costs.
R2G created a practical, tailored plan to boost efficiency and value at the salon. A full lighting redesign replaced outdated fittings and right-sized the system to reduce waste, lower costs, and improve comfort without disrupting operations. To address the Victorian shopfront’s heat loss, R2G proposed targeted glazing enhancements that delivered greater comfort with minimal investment.
