JKP is a respected, family-run business and one of Europe’s leading independent manufacturers of tinplate and aluminium. Known for outstanding customer service and high-quality production, the company operates a high-demand manufacturing site in Nottinghamshire.
R2G was asked to identify energy efficiency opportunities across the facility, with the goal of reducing operational costs and reinvesting savings back into the business.
R2G designed solar systems tailored to JKP’s energy use profile, ensuring on-site demand matched generation. This avoided the pitfall of excess export at low rates, maximising return on investment and payback speed.
Simple operational tweaks were identified across the site, unlocking savings without capital investment. These immediate actions reduced running costs straight away while the solar solution was under review.
By combining flexible solar solutions with simple, low-cost behavioural measures, R2G gave JKP the insight to choose the right level of investment, achieve significant long-term savings, and unlock a property value increase of over £300,000.
For JKP, we focused on generating energy on-site to reduce reliance on the grid, helping the business save costs and protect against rising electricity prices. Using energy data, R2G designed a solar system that balanced current and future scenarios, ensuring the right mix of on-site usage and export to the grid, while making sure the business case made sense.
We’re really grateful for the clear, practical advice from R2G. Their guidance has given us confidence in our next steps, and we’d happily recommend them.

During the visit to site, R2G worked closely with JKP to understand the energy requirements for the manufacturing operation. This quickly led to the idea that on-site generation was the most feasible big-ticket solution.
R2G presented multiple solar options, each designed for different levels of investment and energy generation. This approach gave JKP the flexibility to choose the solution that best suited their needs and priorities.
The transparent business case, supported by multiple solar quotes, gave JKP full visibility of the costs involved in implementing our recommended solution. This level of detail allowed JKP to weigh the cost of installation against potential savings, while also considering other investment priorities within the business.
