Westville, a family-run insulation business based in North Nottinghamshire, has proudly supported its community for almost 40 years. Known for its strong values and people-first culture, the company is focused on becoming a leader in the home decarbonisation sector — not just through the services it provides, but by setting the standard for how a modern, values-led business operates.
As part of that ambition, Westville engaged R2G to create a sustainability strategy that would optimise its operations, improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
Heating was the site’s largest energy consumer but, as a company operating in the insulation industry, Westville had already taken significant steps to optimise their heating performance. However, R2G's thermal modelling found showed the building required only a 2-hour warm-up period — far less than Westville had assumed.
By adjusting the heating schedule on existing controls, R2G cut unnecessary run hours for the boiler and delivered immediate savings with zero investment, all without impacting staff comfort.
R2G oversaw the installation of an additional 8.8 kWp of solar PV, expanding the site’s generation capacity. The upgrade addressed the previous system’s undersizing, cutting operational costs and adding immediate value to the property.
Using one of R2G’s trusted partners, the system was designed and installed within just four weeks of the initial go-ahead.
R2G developed a clear, costed plan for phasing out remaining lamps with LEDs while also identifying areas where lighting could be safely reduced. This approach maximised the use of existing equipment, avoided unnecessary upfront spend, and helped smooth cash flow.
By addressing past over-lighting issues, the plan not only cut energy and maintenance costs but also improved the working environment, with a phased rollout and test removals to ensure staff comfort.
Through R2G's targeted approach, Westville were able to achieve substantial efficiency improvements across multiple energy domains, supporting both environmental goals and business performance.
R2G were brilliant to work with. They helped us get a proper handle on the carbon and costs tied up in our building, and the whole process was far easier than we expected. On top of that, they found us a great contractor to actually get the work done (no small feat!). I’d happily recommend them to other businesses looking to cut operating costs and carbon emissions.

Highlighting key energy and cost consuming plant and machinery for targeted action. Reviewed existing building upgrade plans against industry best practice and upcoming regulatory shifts.
Targeted recommendations aligned to Westville’s business goals—focused on problem areas, reducing staff burden, and lowering costs. Staged and prioritised actions to manage cashflow impact while aligning with future regulatory requirements.
Providing absolute clarity and confidence on project costs and returns prior to go-ahead. Identified and procured quality contractors, overseeing installation to ensure high standards and alignment with the plan.
